I’m not a huge fan of Elementary (although for me, it is sooooo much better if you avoid thinking about it as “Sherlock Holmes” and view it as a completely unrelated piece of media), but I think I’ll keep watching it just for Miss Hudson!!!
- She’s an important reoccurring character, and now in “Elementary” canon, she’s trans*!
- the trans* character is actually played by a real, live, trans* woman! (Candis Cayne is fucking gorgeous!)
- No one misgendered her
- She was treated as an actual person, she wasn’t a comic plot device, and no one made a big fucking deal about her being trans*
- She wasn’t helpless, she wasn’t victimized or murdered, and she end her relationship on her terms and maintained her power!
I’ll admit that I was a bit of an elitist and couldn’t ever see myself liking Elementary, but I think this latest episode sold me on it and I’ll have to go back and watch the previous ones when I have time!
